Military Service & Ladyboys

There was a picture on the front page of the Bangkok Post today from an army physical fitness test.  There were a bunch of young men sitting down with their shirts over their shoulders along with a woman sitting with her shirt on.

The "woman" was not a woman at all, but rather a ladyboy.  So long as they have their male equipment, ladyboys are still classified as men in Thailand.  Since all men are required to serve in the military, this particular lady showed up for her physical.

I am not sure how the Thai military would handle a ladyboy in the army, but fortunately it doesn't look like they will have to find out.  The army doctor declared that her chest was disfigured, and although the caption did not say that it excused her from service, I read that into it.

So if you are caught staring at someone's chest, just tell them that you couldn't help staring at something so disfigured.
